What is the Birthright Fellowship?

The Birthright Fellowship is an 8-week program where Nepali diaspora reconnect with their heritage through service and cultural experiences in Nepal.

What does the fellowship involve?

Fellows work with partner non-profits during the week and participate in cultural excursions around Kathmandu on weekends.

When and how long is the fellowship?

The fellowship begins in June 2026 and runs for 8 weeks.

What types of organizations can I apply to?

A variety, including medicine, public health, clinical research, marketing, investment banking, and so much more!

Who can apply?

Applicants must have atleast one parent of Nepali heritage, have been raised primarily outside of Nepal, be at least 21 years old and have a college degree by the start of the fellowship.

How many fellows will be selected?

A total of 4 fellows will be chosen for the cohort.

Is there any financial assistance available?

Yes! We cover the cost of the fellowship’s programming and cultural activities. Fellows are responsible for their airfare, but we strive to make the rest as accessible as possible.

How does the application process work?

Applicants will submit a form, selecting a specific organization. Applications are reviewed in March, with fellows announced in April/May after evaluation by the Birthright team and partner organizations.
